You could easily identify who is and isnt an "experienced" spriter using the badge system, this would stop the problem of people posing or whatever.
You need to be willing to moderate it properly though and constantly, so you'll need to know when somebody's ready to move into the new board etc. so you can sort it out, something i'm pretty sure only admins can alter, though i'm not sure whatthe settigns are here.
It'll be a lot of extra effort but the system could potentially work.
And tbh, the problem of alienating people could easily be avoided by just leavingthe beginner board as Sprite Discussion and then making the other board invisible to users who dont have access, that way they wont feel alienated and they'll improve in their own time, rather then working incredibly hard on one piece just to get into the board, then going back to "beginner" sprites.
