Yes, it should be bent when he's bringing it forward so it won't look like sliding. I've made a lot of sliding animations myself. :C
Why doesn't his right foot bend as much when it's at its extreme backwards position? Less of his back leg should be seen at that frame too, looks like his leg is stretching unnaturally.
