Press Right to go forward, A to jump, kill the little robots? Wasn't that called... eh... Sonic Advance? Didn't it get, eh... panned? As in, in this generation used to more complex gamestyles, what worked in the nineties won't work as easily?
Of course, if SEGA's smart, they'll pull a Megaman 9. "OKAY, SO YOU WANT A GAME LIKE OLD SONIC GAMES? HERE! DOWNLOAD IT ON VIRTUAL CONSOLE, IT'S GOT SPRITES, IT'S GOT THE SAME ENGINE AS SONIC 3!
But honestly, how rentable would this be?
I'll admit to something... when SEGA was doing the viral campaign of Puyo Puyo 7, I wished, openly, it would be a new mascot so they could just kill Sonic. He's too saturated, give him a rest. Bring back Alex Kidd, let us forget Sonic.
Obviously if they did this they would be out of their cashcow.
