I played through Link's Awakening again (the last time being when I was.. too young to remember most of it) a few days ago, and I loved it. Then I switched to OoS, and I'm really disappointed so far. The story is so shallow compared to LA, it seems. In LA, you wash up on the beach of this strange island and are taken in by Marin, right? You find your sword on the beach, obviously, because that's where you washed up. You also get your shield from Tarin because it washed up alongside you, earlier on. That's also how he knows your name. In OoS, though, you get plopped onto the ground with no explanation as to where you were before that point in time. Everybody magically knows your name with no explanation, and immediately you get set up with the ol' damsel in distress gig. Now, I'm not one to say that washing up on an island is very original, but at the very least LA pays attention to details. Those little things like, "How did I know your name? Why, it's on the back of this shield that washed up with you!" that are completely ignored in what I've seen so far in OoS.Well yes your right LA is an amazing game but just play OoS for a bit more...get far in it and youll see that its a really great game!
Sorry for being so off-topic, here, but I hear everyone saying how much they love the Oracle games, and I'm wondering what I'm missing. Do I just need to play more? There's a difference between slowly unraveling a mystery (LA) and heavy-handedly being shoved from place to place wondering why (...OoS).
