I think we all need to go back to the drawing board and start making some good concepts for smilies, because, seriously, round smilies? Not really setting a statement here. If we really want to set ourselves out with sprites, we should definitely stray away from round smilies, because, seriously, round smilies are as generic as it gets. No matter how many times you resprite them, they still stay round.
At least the reasoning for our smiley choice (that of Multiverse Works) is because smiley graphics from other boards are lame when you create a custom board. Making our own wasn't really because we wanted to set ourselves apart from others, but more because we wanted to stay away from smilies others created, in case we would want to release our message board to the public to use.
Using custom smilies that are still round really doesn't justify it on a pre-made board. You might as well just use the stock graphics.
