The netcode stinks. Almost every off host shot drops a bullet in the burst. That in conjunction with the bullet spread makes it aggravating to use the BR even in it's range.

It still has some use in close quarters, but its no longer godly.
I know it's a one hit kill. That's not the problem. Neither is the range. It takes ages to switch to. That makes it almost completely worthless to against decent players. If you walk around advertising your sword to everyone, people will stay away. If you don't, people will kill you before you can even lunge. It isn't even a power weapon anymore.

I think the fact that the gameplay has changed a bit each sequel not to mention lag from adding an online mode has caused the multiplayer to feel like that at times though.
I earned my 50, and sure there is a skill gap. I was exaggerating, but it was nothing near Halo CE's. The majority of the time, whoever gets the first shot wins, and whoever has the power weapon also wins. The hitboxes are a lot bigger than Halo CE's. The strafing is a lot less effective in Halo 3. The running speed is slower than Halo CE. The melee has become more powerful and easier to land, not to mention they removed the momentum based melee system. There's a lot of things they did that contribute to the lessened skill gap in Halo 3. There's always gonna be people who are better than you, but in Halo 3, the gap between being bad and being good isn't so big.

I also enjoy the three games' multiplayer. I just prefer Halo CE's flow and gameplay. I don't understand why they changed it so much for the sequels.

Yeah, I own it. They didn't really fix any netcode problems in the game, so you experience the same problems in that, albeit less laggy.
