Just saying, changing the grid would be the least problem. Maybe like this. Adding a random button should be good, too. (Just an idea, because these 3 "new" characters would need 3 more sprite sheets...)
I'm also wondering where Paper Mario is in this poll. I think it would be a shame to see his (nearly complete) sheet unused.
