Basically, what I think that meant was that, due to possessing Sigma's dna in their copy chip, they could access the virus at will and choose to become 'infected' by it.
Honestly, I thought the story was pretty decent even if a little nonsensical in some parts (Why is Vile bacK?What the hell does having a copy chip have to do with the moon?), and was defintely better than the unfortunately mediocre gameplay.
No ladders, no water, less than stellar level design on several levels , the two 3D levels, the lack of any feeling of solidity or weight/strength behind any of your actions
It was a fun game, I just think its nothing compared to say X4
