it's a fun game, it's kinda too bad working designs gone now, there is also a snes game which is a bit more serious and has a slightly darker tone, this game only time it turns a bit dark is when Sven, Kyser, wriph and wrath die
and if you get it and it won't run on Gens, try selecting Perfect Synchro (Slow) some reason Popful mail won't run unless it's selected
There's also a PC Engine CD version. But that one is closer to the original version on the PC-88. Which Popful Mail originally being a Falcom game, means until you get ranged attacks, you run into enemies to kill them. But I only know (tried) one emulator that runs PC Engine CD games and unless you register for it, you'll need to make a save state and reload within 5 minutes or the emulator locks up (its a five minute demo that resets the timer when loading a game or state).
PC88, and PC98 are the original versions. PC Engine is the most faithful port. And the Sega CD is the only port with a legitimate English translation.
If you play the Sega CD version, try to save before scenes once you get Gaw. More of his dialogs are funny.
magicengine eh? that timer got so annoying I gave in and gave em a CC# lol pce's got my favorite game on it so, it's kinda worth it lol
