i wasn't really saying she wasn't a "boring" character or couldn't easily be construed that way
I was saying that she is not a conventional character
the entire point is that she is "mysterious", that she is subtle, that she is not emotive and that she is introverted - that she is supposed to be an avatar, an extension of your character (save for a few basic character-specific motivations which are non-disruptive) not a character in and of her own right.
from the very beginning the series was about subtlety - introversion, "loneliness"; with Other M (and to a lesser extent mp3 and even lesser extent mp2) this is being replaced by a horrendously inappropriate bombasticness which takes apart the key thing that has made Metroid "Metroid" and replaces it with something much more befitting of "your average action game".
