Assist Trophies and Pokemon

First off, we have absolutely no clue about anything about this Pokemon. Even if it is revealed soon, its not likely that they'll reveal exactly what it does that's so special the same day.

Second, we've already got what could be considered a good candidate for a final Pokemon roster. Adding another would just add to the load that has to be sprited and while its not necessarily the final roster, for the moment I am treating it as one.

Right, that's why I said under the circumstances that enough info is revealed to make it into one; that would certainly be a necessity. I also understand your concerns about the roster, but given that an entirely new generation of pokemon is about to be revealed the circumstances have undergone a major change. I think including one or maybe two 5th generation pokemon would show that we are cognizant of new and developing nintendo products and aren't turning a blind eye for the sake of convenience. I mean, ultimately, this (and any smash bros game legitimate or fan made) is a tribute to nintendo as a whole.
