Actually, it looks like they DID put in Classic Sonic as an alternative skin. I kinda started to get fed up with the fan backlash too.

It's not classic Sonic at all.

When I first looked at these still frame images I was really tired and thought I was looking at a sprite, which made me say "That's a fake because it's a sprite when clearly Sonic was a 3D model in the leaked footage". Looking at it now when I'm tired, but not AS tired, I can say it can pass as a 3D model. As far as arguments about what's classic and what isn't, I'll pass on that entirely.
