The loading times were already fixed when the devs imported the game from GameMaker7 to GM8. Now it takes only 2 minutes at most to load on any computer.
Also, recently, a memory cleaning tool was found. What does it do? It frees the RAM memory being used by the same. Before it was included, the game used to take around 500MB of ram, and it increased over time. Now, it only takes 30MB constantly.
All these fixes, and many more will be included in the next release for the public to play it; I dont know when is it going to happen though, there's still a lot of new levels to merge and other features to tweak.
About the DKC question, well, there will be levels that use DKC's enemies and tilesets randomly, perhaps a level designer could decide to use elements from that franchise.
For now, the only DK level is one called Big City, but its not DKC at all, it will mostly represent the old NES DK games; you know, a big city, rolling barrels, ladders, etc.
