Alright, serious question
are any of the main characters in this rounded, or are they the usual FF one-dimensional bores?
(And angst or a convoluted backstory != complicated character, btw)
Because while I like a lot of the game mechanics in previous FF games, the characters in most of the previous games have been so damned flat or outright unlikable that I find it difficult to stick with them for long.
The closest I've seen to character development in a final fantasy game was when Lulu from FF10 went from being kind of bitchy to not particularly bitchy. That is literally it.
I actually really want to like the final fantasy games because the worlds are nicely designed, but that's it. The characters don't add to the depth at all. They're like windowdressing.
I wouldn't describe it as polishing a turd so much as polishing a GAPING VOID.
