No, see, here's my problem.

They didn't make it like the classics.
The ripped off the classics.

We never wanted a rehash of the original games.

We wanted a totally new game with similar gameplay, style, and feel to the old games.
Not reskinned versions of the old levels with different layouts.

Is that really so much to ask for?

I honestly don't consider myself part of the whiny fanbase that you describe, but you have to admit that sega is being incredibly cheap with that.
