In response to the original post, you definitely aren't the only one disappointed with Brawl. It disappointed me, and although I definitely set my expectations too high (many did), I think they screwed up quite a bit. It's still really fun with friends at least (when one certain friend doesn't spam Olimar's smash attacks like they're going out of style), but I'll talk about what disappointed me.
The roster was flat-out terrible compared to Melee. It had more characters, yeah, but there was an incredible amount of new series in Melee compared to Brawl. Just as well, only two of Melee's eleven unlockables were old characters, while nine of Brawl's fourteen unlockables were old (did not include Snake + Sonic who were revealed before release).
The physics, while closer to SSB64 (my favorite SSB), were way too damn floaty, and hitstun is almost non-existent here. Still, I liked the physics in Brawl more than Melee's at least.
Sum up of any and every other complaints
-Roster is pretty lackluster (No new Metroid or F-Zero reps, plus Wolf and Toon Link, no thank you.)
-Stickers sucked (Only usable in Single Player? Missed out on a real awesome thing for Multi Player.)
-SSE sucked (Long, boring, and also, what the hell is a "Tabuu"?)
-Wario is the only one with an alternate costume (No Doctor's garb for Mario? Horse crap.)
-Physics are better, but still imperfect (SSB64 had the best, I'll never back down from that.)
Brawl was bad enough to make me start my little SSB project, along with a passing comment from a friend telling me to stop whining about Brawl and make my own SSB. >_>; As I said above, I still love playing it when friends are here (although that's become a rare moment considering the things going on around here), but damned if it wasn't a disappointment.
Sorry for getting so centered around Brawl. I've got a few other games.
GTA IV: Radically different from previous GTAs, like Vice City and San Andreas. Took itself way too seriously. No miniguns, no jetpacks, really bland. Still, it was a fun game, and I loved the multiplayer as well.
Mother 3: Really depressing compared to EarthBound, but was awesome nonetheless.
Conker, Live and Reloaded: This was a terrible remake of the original Bad Fur Day. Censored even more than the original game was (game was originally known as Live and Uncut), but the worst part was that the original multiplayer minigames were removed (No Heist, no War, all gone) for some crappy little class based Conker-themed multiplayer sidegame. Glad I rented it.
