Quote:As Vipershark said, for being online. Usually people who plays online games don't give a shit about storyline, it's just about PK and powering up. And FF series IS about storyline. If there was one offline mode, like Phantasy Star Online or Phantasy Star Universe then it would be easier to forgive.
Also, when they shut down the servers, no-one will be able to play it anymore. And I do know it got one big storyline and unlike Lineage2 the story is quite present during the entire quests and gameplay (in L2 you got to read the entire official site to know what's going on, it's never mentioned at the game itself). And so far there's no privative servers.
FFXI was notorious for having pretty much NO PVP not to mention PKing. Also FFXI has FOUR big story lines. This is why WoW lovers hate on FFXI-- no PvP and they actually have to play with each other. It's also why FFXI lovers hate on WoW-- barbaric PvP and you play 8-% of the game by yourself.
It deserved a number, regardless of your arguments. So does XIV. You know why? Because regardless of what patterns you can find it's not your franchise. They can do as they please, and it's no ones right to tell them they were wrong in doing so. especially with something as trivial as the naming of a game.
Just like Pokemon, many claim that the newer Pokemon aren't real Pokemon. It's like, YES THEY FUCKING ARE. You know why? Because the people in charge of making the Pokemon made them with the intention of making them Pokemon. So regardless of your preconceived notion on what a Pokemon was, the newer ones are still Pokemon.
You have every right to not like it, but there is no justification as to why it's a disappointment, as it was very fulfilling. I played it for five years, I don't see me playing any other FF for 5 years straight.
EDIT: This was a response to both Ultimecia and Viper so if somehting doesn't sound right it's probably directed at the other person sorry. :X
