Okay, so basically, treat the wings just like arms. When the wings move down, push the character up, and vice versa for down.
I don't know if that's helpful at all, but wings are essentially just special arms. That spike on the top of the wing is like a thumb, and the other parts radiating out from there are like open fingers. So I'm guessing you could just bend over a bit and flap your own arms to simulate something similar.
But I've never done wings much either.
