Their faces aren't that good; the nose looks pointy and Mario lacks a chin.

Also, care to elaborate on the problems with the tree?

The problem is that the tree doesn't look like a tree. Make the leaves more bushy; right now, it looks like a piece of green clay on top of a stump.
