It's just that sotn was groundbreaking in every category. So much variety and the upside down castle made it so lengthy, which is why I'm in favor of it.
Castlevania 4 on the other hand is just not that great. Sure there's high graphical quality, but fans and critics just overlook the flaws like the stiff animation, lame soundtrack, unmemorable backgrounds, and don't get me started on that giant plot hole at the intro which doesn't even make any sense.
Also tonberry2k, to answer your question, since the upcoming castlevania game will be like sotn and simon's quest, I doubt it'll disappoint. Since 20 areas + 20 inverted areas = 40 altogether, the game could be epic. Though I'm worried that there might be a box popping up out of the air causing the game to stop for 10 tedious seconds, and that I'll die if I fall in the water.
