im sure if Brazilian comics became awesome overnight it would be referred to worldwide as *comiçao or something (though i think you just use the cognate word "comic" or something)

But I agree with you. It's just a fast way to refer to something. I understand Rokkan's point, though. The way people talk about anime here makes me want to shoot myself.
