K, heres some back story. People have been going to sleep and not waking up. Oh crap. One night, the main character (dude with the sword) goes to sleep and starts to dream. Suddenly, everything around him starts to disappear. He is saved buy a pig like creature (The purple guy with the hammer) who explains that he is the Dream smith (like a black smith but with dreams). He says that people have been getting trapped in their dreams because the dream world is being destroyed and the god of dreams is pissed and blames the humans. It turns out that the main character has the ability to manipulate dreams and as such can rebuild destroyed dungeons (he can place normal floors on the overworld to add to the dungeon. If you place on over a lake or something, that floor will be themed to that).

You also help a few people trapped in their dreams so they can wake up. How they look in their dream form is based on their mind set in real life, not necessarily how they actually act (it's usually the opposite.

Long story short, god of dreams thinks you are wrecking the dream world, you thing he's the bad guy, you beat him, plot twist, turns out a Baku (the thing Drowzee is based off of) is the problem. You have to go and take out that sucker to save the dream world, and probably the real world or something.
