I'm not sure if it's intentional, but it seems like you're pulling off a very brilliant ironic/dark contrast there. As if you were trying to create quite a shady mood, just to shove some random light-hearted comments in-between. It sounds out of place, sort of. Good start, though. I'm looking forward to reading more.
