In RBY I traded over a Charmander with Cut so I could do the Vermillion City scenario without having the ship leave (So I could try out the Mew/Truck thing) I eventually had to trade it back.

aaaaa I remember trying something like this


instead, I just let myself get KO'd in the SS Anne once I got the HM. Worked just as fine
and not getting a Mew was disappointing : (
