I'm not saying I don't need to change it, I'm saying that to make it lighter would be ridiculous if the sprite is supposed to look dark.

by that logic, all you need to do is paint it entirely black.

because you know, you can have a "dark" character by using more "saturated" and "contrasting" colors. heck, its not even about "give it a pink dress".


problem with it being so dark overall is that it simply lacks contrast like i already said before. with such a low amount of contrast all the colors blend and just the whole sprite looks ugly no matter how "dark" it was meant to be.
