especially if they technically never happened at all in the series :F

He did this at MFS. Plus there was a Super Tails, only you had to unlock the ability by gathering all the Hyper Emeralds in S3&K and fifty rings while playing as him.

But this never happened canoncially, since it had no role to play like Super's was in Sonic 2, which was basically a prolonged magic sheild as long you kept the ring count above 0.
