In defense of how Ridley looks, it's Team Ninja. They're known for designing stuff with two beefy arms, uneven style and constabulate V's. Well, perhaps not the last one.

In defense of how this horrible design looks, all these aspects are common in the team's other horrible designs.
There's also the classic Team Ninja plastic sheen. Love that team, mediocre in everything but combat. Though looking at the Ridley battle, it looks so limited and repetitive.
