I dunno, I think a desman would fit better for a starter. The water starters are usually small and cute, but with large features (squirtle's tail, totodile's spikes, mudkips fins, piplup's "coat", wotter's ears). I feel that the starters are also usually blue, but with a largely contrasting color (piplup/wotter=white, totodile/mudkip= a reddish orange)
