and i think the sprites look the same to sonic 3's because of the overall build they have. sonic 2 hd's quills look thicker than sonic 2's originals. as well as the pupils are smaller and more focused to the right side of his eye. though when i look closer i can see sonic 2 and hd's shading are much more similar
like i said i'm only going on by what the main, shared sprites look like. calm the fuck down
if i was actually bashing the game for it, then you getting mad over it would have made sense :c
jesus christ, i'm not pissed because you're criticizing the game (saying that the sprites look more like sonic 3 than sonic 2 doesn't say anything whether the game is good or not anyway), i'm pissed because your posts were really fucking lazy :I
the only similiarity that I see, as you said, is because the pupils aren't as thick, which is understandable because they seem to be trying to replicate the original artworks.

I highly disagree, this has a lot of polish in it. I now see that the mix of gradients and vectors is to mimic the japanese classic Sonic artworks, while still trying to be faithful to the original graphics. Just take a look and percieve the details:
