I'd rather have a complete re-interpretation of the graphics than just playing the original with double the resolution (which on normal LCD screens you can't really tell much anyway)
If they look like the way they do on the concept art, that will take away the pixel-ish look of the original game, yes, but it'll add so much more to the serious and lonely atmosphere that Cave Story have and is a pretty important thing on most Metroid games, which were the main inspiration for Cave Story. It's not like anyone was complaining that Metroid: Zero Mission didn't have the graphical limitations of the original Metroid or the lack of the strong "lonely" atmosphere that almost every game after the original started having.
