Sonic Adventure did show that drastically different character gameplay styles can work in the same stage; but SA2's seprate level schemes, focused on making stages tailor to each gameplay style, which worked just fine, TBH.
Hm, I remember there was a hack of SA2 where City Escape was played as Eggman. It would be neat to see that with the other characters.
