Ironically enough last night me and my friend were playing the first Zelda game and were immediately put off by the lack of all direction. No Map, Only a magic sword in tow, and time. After bout an hour of wandering we stopped playing. Keep in mine though we are both spoiled brats who's first Zelda games were not the first Zelda.
Navi is useful for first timers I don't think she failed at her job in the original installment of OOT. At the same time she would go towards inconspicuous things and then you'd notice how out of the ordinary they were and immediately do a thing. Why give them a video guide on what that thing is? If you already know your suppose to be where you are in the game then you either have the needed item or knowledge or you missed something.
