'S just you, man. My gaming prime time is in bed or on the move; and come to think of it, the majority of my favourite games are handehld. I'm entirely ok with mainseries titles being on 3DS. Means I'll actually play 'em.
Well like I said the best compromise here would be to release a main version on console and a slightly graphically degraded version on portable (since I doubt a lot of processing power would be going to stuff other than graphics for most games unless they're large-scale RTSes or something, and even then the best games in that genre have usually been on PC except for Pikmin). Then everyone would theoretically be happy, and game companies would probably get more money too.
I'm perfectly okay with main series titles being on portables, I just don't like them being exclusive to portables. You just get sucked into games so much more when they're on a huge screen and take up almost your entire field of vision. There are a lot of handheld games I really like but I'd love to see a console version of most of them, if only for high definition visuals. Right now I have enough free time that I'm able to sink hours into playing games on HDTV screens or PC monitors, though, so I can understand why this might not be practical for people with busier schedules. (Also generally I've found that many portable games are best played on PC monitors too through emulation, and my PC is in my bedroom. Though I'm not immune to sometimes wanting to play games in bed, and I did that with Pokemon B/W, but I did say "usually" =P)
As soon as cloud computing becomes refined enough the console/handheld dichotomy will become unnecessary anyway, since you'd just stream the same images to both screens. I was hoping the WiiU would have some advances to make in this area but unfortunately it turned out the streaming thing was only local. It'll probably happen within a decade or so anyway I guess.
