You would be EXTREMELY lucky if the price gets dropped to even 200. It will take probably 5 years before they are to there even. It took 5 years for the dslite to drop from 130 to 100.

The DS Lite also used to be $250. Also, it's only been around for five years, so I'm thinking you've either got your numbers horribly wrong or you're from the future.

EDIT: Nevermind. It was $130. I thought it used to be $250. Whoops.

But let's face it, Nintendo could probably afford to price drop the 3DS $50 right now. It's likely almost or just as overpriced as the Wii was - nothing on the 3DS is groundbreakingly new technology.

Also, how long did it take for the GameCube or Wii to price-drop... considering they're $250 at launch?

Took awhile if I recall, it's only been like 200$ for like 5 months i think.

Also Gamecube was like 100$ at launch though, that or wal-mart was making some cuts.
