Like, it's great for me if I wanted to buy a Vita (and I don't), but it doesn't seem like a very smart move on Sony's part. They're dropping a lot of money really fast with this. Unless it sells like hotcakes (and considering the PSP's legacy that would be asking a bit much) I think Sony's just gonna fail here.

Yep. I think the DS has sold so well it can even compare to ps2 sales, which is pretty immense on its own.
Although I'm wondering if Sony altogether has done well since ps3 and psp don't sell near as well in America(Europe, some other places) as they do in Japan, and I mean the price comparison is an enormous gap last time I checked and I'm sure sony lost quite a bit of their fandom when the network crashed and people lost all that information.
So with that in mind that makes me curious on where that leaves Vita and its future sales.
