It sure sucks when there's a game you're excited about and it turns out you can't get it easily, that I understand, but acting like a five year old yelling MUMMY MUMMY BUT I WANT IT WHY CAN'T I HAVE IT is ridiculous. Ultimately a game company has to make money. If they don't think something has a market in a particular country, it is their prerogative to not sell it there, regardless of whether or not you disagree. It's juvenile as fuck to expect a company to risk making a massive loss just to appease some neckbeards.
idk, i certainly didn't get this vibe at all from his post
the whole point of this campaign is to show nintendo or whatever that the game would NOT be a massive loss because however many people who participate will buy it
he's just saying that instead of going "aw shucks, guess we'll never get to play it" fans should take SOME action to see that these games get localized, not just for themselves but for everyone who might be interested. idk what's wrong with that, it's not like they're making death threats, they're just sending letters/messages to nintendo expressing their interest
oh and from what i understand these aren't just random japanese games some people want to play, these are some pretty significant releases; mistwalker is a big name, monolith soft isn't unheard of in the states, and idk about ganbarion but the first two at least are a pretty big deal
i think its absurd to think these games couldn't be successful here; this would be like if square decided not to localize kingdom hearts
Nnnnope, Kriven's post absolutely reeks of entitlement; mostly because - as I've said and repeated - these three games are not the only games ever to be denied an international release, and as such, a lot of the up-in-arms about this seems to come down to that it's ~~~AMERICA~~~ being denied a game and that's just NOT OKAY GUYS.
To specify/elaborate, Nintendo has decided to not release 1st and 2nd party Wii games in the US before - Another Code R and Disaster Day of Crisis. Furthermore, to flip the situation, there are a shitload of games that were released in the US by a bunch of different companies that don't make it to the UK. Atlus is infamous for this, but if you want a Nintendo-centric example, Wario Ware Twisted is one.
But y'know in those situations, there wasn't a petition made. For the most part, people just dealt with it. It's true that in this age, there is a much bigger role of the end-user in game development and publishing, and that's great, but when there are threads like this that treat a contrary decision as INJUSTICE (because you're not doing what we want), or that NINTENDO IS RUINING GAMING (because you're not doing what we want); then that's entitled bullshit.
