Equipment is funny in Spiral Knights; you can only get them by crafting, shops, or from other players. You only get the materials for crafting from your adventuring :C

And even from other players, crafting higher-end stuff for trade is difficult since you need to remove the equip binds (which you need to do anyway to accumulate heat) before you can do anything with them
