I find this very very hard to believe. I mean if that was the case wouldn't there be at least plans for DLC prior to that?

Instead of just the one time purchase.Yes, and it sucks. Here is where I will agree with you; Marvel vs Capcom 3 was sold as a blatantly incomplete game. It is missing many core features that should have been included in the first place. People have a right to be upset about that part. I am even bothered about it myself, but it is not such a big deal that Capcom should be sent to a firing squad.
That's my main issue. I don't feel good about Capcom asking me to pay to fix for something they broke.

All the DLC for games like Fallout and Dragon Age come under the "lot of data" category, so this isn't much of a point.

Just look at MK9's online play-- incompatible patch players are all over the place; some characters without any DLC characters at all! Meaning that if you did a lot of practice with, say, Rain, and the opposing player doesn't have the Rain DLC, you can't use Rain. Having the option to pick and choose what characters you want is nice, but if you never actually get to use them in competitive play-- what's the point?
A title patch allowing you to play against the characters but not play as them could be easily done. Hell if Everybody's Golf can do it so can this.

It would just be stupid, and that's what this is - stupid.Except Fallout 3 DLC is usually one or two missions and some new items. It's not a giant update like this is.
Again Dragon Age and Fallout 3's DLC take up a big chunk of data

Yes, it's very dumb in essence. They could have delayed MvC3 longer and then U wouldn't have to exist.
Exactly.
For tournament players, yes good for you - enjoy the game. But for the rest of us I think we have a right to be a bit miffed at Capcom for this (along with Monster Hunter Portable 3 looking like it's not getting an English release, Megaman Legends 3 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record).
Plus: Thanks a decent response.
