Reading your thing, shouldn't the knights be allowed to fight too? I think they should be bosses at least, after all, if you can beat one of Dazz's trusted chosen knights, then you are worthy enough to face Dazz himself, and if you can beat Dazz then you should be worthy enough to take his kingdom.

This way it still has the very final boss be the same like in most fighters, but it pulls a Soul Calibur and people have different mid-bosses. (But only these mid-bosses are actually relevant to the storyline!)

If you actually do go with this, I think I should be a Parody on Taokaka's and Felicia's Fighting style and I would like my theme to be a mix/callback of These Songs:
