Also someone teach me how to be rude because this guy I work with really wants to date me, but I'm just not interested in him that way and don't want to lead him on, but without shooting him down right away. I just want to be friends, but his persistence is bugging me a bit.

Perhaps, you could simply tell him that if he's going to continue his advances, you'll be forced to reconsider being his friend at all...?
