Maybe this topic should be renamed "Video Games that you dislike"
Anyways, I'll go ahead and add the Tales series to my "meh" pile. They're nothing special to me, just a slightly more limited ARPG. I don't understand why these games are priced so high when they're pretty generic. I don't get why they're popular either, especially considering Namco doesn't really care about the series much these days. The Tales games aren't that bad, but I have much better alternatives in my library. (Maybe I'm just crazy talking because I managed to make a $20 profit off my copy of Vesperia?).
Another gripe is that the Tales series has a surprisingly extensive catalog, with some being japan-only. I don't think a casual Tales fan would even know of Phantasia, which was the first one IIRC, or Legendia, it seems that as far as US Tales games goes, the only ones that count are Vesperia, Symphonia, and Abyss. Me personally, and I've mentioned this before, I only tend to invest in a series if I like more than 80% of the games in said series. If I only like Symphonia, but dislike the others, I'm not going to make room for it in my library. I enjoyed GTA San Andreas and Resident Evil 4, but I dislike every other entry in those series, so again, no room for it in my library. On the opposite coin, the only Sonic The Hedgehog game I've never been able to stomach was Sonic 06, and also the only Sonic game I don't own a copy of anymore, but since I pretty much like very other game, then I can make space for it.
Maybe if Namco had more interest in the series I'd also have more interest, but considering the situation now and how expensive the games are, it's just not worth it in my book.
Now don't take my post as me saying the Tales series is crap. It's far from that, at the very least, and I don't think Namco gives it the attention it deserves. Instead of localizing a Pac-Man Party port, they could have already released Tales of Graces F or even Xillia. :/
