Thanks to the Maka Wuhu glitch, Star Cup is now more tolerable. I wouldn't use it online with friends, though.

Is there something hard about the star cup?

In just about every Mario Kart game, the Star Cup is where it starts to get hard. In 7 it's no different: The CPUs start to be more difficult, be it due to Track design or just more frequent red & blue shells. Maka Wuhu in particular can be a nightmare since it's one long continuous track. That and CPUS start using dirtier tactics, like Item Box hogging and Coin hogging.
