and the only actually well-done quality of the game is that it looks nice and there's tons of customization.

I'd also say it sounds pretty nice. The compositions are nicer than most comparable video game soundtracks (i.e. - ones that try to emphasize Big Orchestras For Extra Epic), and i think we have Jeremy Soule to thank for that. (he's the composer: he also composed for Secret of Evermore, which has a really nice soundtrack.)
