I may seem a bit biased, but I'm a moderator for the Stencyl community and have been part of it for a few years now. I highly recommend it, having used it for my own game creation for a while now and publishing my first successful game on Kongregate using it.
I do admit I work with someone who's a little bit more programmer-oriented than I, but I've been able to get sprites, tilesets, backgrounds all imported, and to a degree, was able to make some small game projects of mine playable. It really makes game creation 'easier'. (Albeit, not more than moving around, jumping, and establishing a few enemies and obstacles)
Anyway, I'm gonna stop advertising/hijacking this thread. I do encourage you to try it out for yourself and see if it works for you. I'd love to answer questions about it via PM if anyone decides to give it a try.
