hi bryan
but yeah, they basically do next to nothing and don't affect footsies; the only one that comes close is the speed gem because it also affects jump speed. so just stock up on speed gems if you really want to enhance your footsies.
the only complaint i have about gems is that they make your character the color of the gems while they're activated which just looks ugly.
all in all, most complaints about SFxT are because we don't actually know what half the shit will do. we don't know if gems are overpowered or if pandora is becoming a literal x-factor. once people test the gem build and the pandora-off-wall-bounce build, then we'll have complaints that could be legitimate. otherwise it's just "oh... these... could be bad?".
you have every right to not like the game, i can completely see that being the case for a lot of the FGC. unfortunately, most of them just want SF2 Version 500 which is really concerning. without change we wouldn't have EVO Moment #37. some change ends up not being good - but you cant really say one way or another until you put your hands on the game. i could speculate all day that the gems wont do anything major but are still neat to have in the game, you could speculate all day that they're useless or over-powering. but that's all it is. speculation. we don't know.
i think we'd all be better off just waiting to get the gem build before we freak the fuck out over every little thing. maybe the gems will be more fun than we think. whooooo knowwwwwssssss?
also, tellis:
this is why you dont like it. SFxT is very clearly more for people who like the SF fighting system better, unfortunately. as much as they made the Tekken guys similar to how they would play in Tekken, it's still in a 2d realm and there's still things that are significantly different in terms of gameplay (there's fireballs, for one). this is probably the most legitimate reason to not like SFxT, tbh.

Quote: two completely unnecessary "comeback" mechanics, two? pandora and ... uh... idk the pandora gems? i agree that pandora is useless, but it doesnt really change the main game. if someone is stupid enough to use pandora raw then they deserve to lose. you won, good job. the only trouble im seeing was the demo of SFxT where they used Ryu's EX Donkey Kick, pandora'd and then could follow up after with a combo. that's concerning....
Quote: the lazy combos that are bafflingly easy to pull off,MVC3? MVC3. lazy combos are easy to do and require no execution. are they the best combos to use? nope!
Quote:the lopsided console exclusive offerings (i don't play on 360 but are you fucking kidding me five sony exclusive characters)yeah this part is kind of concerning but we dont really know why there's 5 characters on the ps3/vita version and none on 360. maybe there is and we dont know yet? maybe microsoft doesnt want them using their characters in this game? who knows.
