Face needs more contrast, you've got some nice darker colors for his feet, use them elsewhere. The lightest skin tone and probably the lightest brown as well should both be white.
The light blue on his hands could be the mid skin tone or the light brown to better match the rest of the sprite.
Face and hair could both use more detail.

And with the spriting critique out of the way, I will also have to say that its a very bland and unoriginal character design.
