That's the internet for you. I've had this kind of stuff happen before: there was a guy on another forum who thought I was 18 when I was 14.
Of course, I tend to write (at least on forums) "mature" for my age, so it's only natural for people to make assumptions. It lets me have proper discussions, and people will actually read what I write, rather than going around writing "HEYGUYS HOWZIT I WANNARIP SPRITESCANU HELP ME oh capslock wasonsorry
" and then getting my posts deleted.
It also helps with my overall grammar and vocabulary. English is my first language of course, so it's not as if the internet is my only source of using it, but it helps me improve while also actually writing something useful.
