The 3DS is not popluar enough to kill the DS sales. I think it might take at least 2 years for the DS to die. That is if Nintendo doesn't create a new DS since the 3DS is said to cause health problems.

A clever way to re-state "there is still a market for the DS" in my last post.

Also I hardly see how creating a new 3ds will simply kill off the DS entirely. You still have to consider that they want to keep the 3D part of it, hence why they gave out warnings about the 3D mode.
