Dear diary,
I couldn't sleep. I was so antsy about not catching anything in
in Route 30 that I just had to go back. I ended up running into
a Bellsprout! I caught her pretty easily and named her Sophia.
The only move she knows is Vine Whip.
Welp, I know who I'm not using against Falkner.
After that, I got tripped up by a little kid in a straw hat
holding a butterfly net. Of course, he wanted to battle. His
last Pokemon was a Weedle, and while it wasn't much trouble to
take down, it still poisoned Cocoa. I tried to rush him to the
nearest Pokemon Center, but the bug catcher wouldn't let me go
until I exchanged phone numbers with him. What a little creep!
I gave in, and now I've got Bug Catcher Wade registered in my
Pokegear. Joy. I ran back to the Pokemon Center in Violet City,
and just when I thought Cocoa was going to die of poisoning,
the poison went away, just like that. What a fightening
experience.
After a near-death experience like that, I realized I need to
be more prepared than I am. I stocked up onAntidotes at the
PokeMart. I'll have to be more on top of
things if I want to make it anywhere out here.

Dear diary,
apparently, Falkner doesn't let just anybody challenge him.
I had to climb the Sprout Tower before I was allowed entrance
to the Violet City Gym.
Once I'd made it to the second floor of the tower, I discovered
that it was completeky infested with Pokemon. Wonderful. The
first thing I run into is a Ghastly, which is actually kind of
interesting! She repeatedly hypnotized Sophia into sleeping,
which made capturing her surprisingly annoying, but I got her
in the end. Her name was Scoops.
So I guess the tower is called Sprout Tower because all of the
trainers inside use Bellsprouts? Kind of obnoxious, but it
could be worse. Wade called me during this time. He had some
berries he was willing to share with me. Y'know, he's alright.
There were a lot of sages in the tower. At one point, I had
to take on three in a row, and it was the third battle that
did Scoops in. I wish I'd had more time to get attached to
her...
Past those sages was the elder. Not only that, but he was
just finishing up a battle with Crimson! Immediately after,
Crimson used an Escape Rope to leave the tower. It was my
turn.
I lost. All of my Pokemon are dead.
I guess I just don't have what it takes to be a Pokemon
Master.
I think I'll go home and rethink what I want to do with my
life...
Goodnight, diary.
