Not what I meant. I can't believe I'm going to say this... but I wouldn't have mentioned anything if Gors did just make a recolor for the powerup.
A recolor may be rock bottom on the easy simple changes scale, but it usually makes it loud and clear that a change of state has in fact happened.
The closest mario powerup I can think of to whats going on here are the ones from Super Mario land 2 and they are more visible than those tiny cat ears, despite being simpler changes.
I would like to say that the ears aren't very readable as a powerup even though they're clear as a sprite, but I'm not sure if I'm using the term readable correctly here.
